Coaching Expectations

What are Area Reps?
Area reps are members of the GLRSA Board that assemble team rosters and select coaches for each team. Area reps should be your first contact when you have questions about basic expectations, team rosters, and if you run into situations where you might need a little advice or additional help.

U5-U6 Area Rep: Miles Madren
Boys U7-U9 Area Rep: Josh Martin
Girls U7-U10 Area Rep: Jacob Crum
Boys U10-U18 Area Rep: Alicia Wozniak
Girls U11-U18 Area Rep: Molly Kinsey

Who Handles the Schedules?
The Scheduler handles all requests for practice times on GLRSA fields (CAT Park, Davidson, ECC,  Amphitheater). This person will take coach requests and do their best to meet specified needs.

The Scheduler also schedules all matches in U5-U18, as well as the U9-U18 tournament. This person will first collect information on head coach availability and generate a schedule for all matches. This person is also responsible for posting final scores and standings. This person will be your contact for any game time changes or if a score is incorrect.

Scheduler: Erica Crum

Do I need any supplies?
Sometimes GLRSA will have small cones, whistles, and other equipment available for free. Other items such as clipboards, dry-erase boards, fold-up benches, etc., will be at your expense. You may wish to have a way to track player substitutions to ensure equal gameplay (a notebook or a clipboard would work). Other items you may wish to consider are chemical cold packs, a small first aid kit, a spare t-shirt in a different color than your team's jersey (in case you need a goalie shirt), and a folder in which to keep your team roster along with parent contact information. You must always have your team roster on game day!

What if I have other concerns?
Contact your area rep first. They can then refer you to the right person to contact if needed.

I'm new at this. Do you have any guides?
Yes! We do offer a list of age-appropriate practice guides and drills on our Practice Guides page.
