Indiana Soccer Q&A

GLRSA is excited to announce a partnership with Indiana Soccer. We would to include a little background of who Indiana Soccer is.

Indiana Soccer is a member of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), United States Youth Soccer (USYS), United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) and United States Futsal Association (USFF). It is a not-for-profit Indiana corporation, allowing tax deductible donations and contributions to the fullest extent of the law. Indiana has a current membership base of over 63,000 youth players, 2,000 adult players, 8,000 active coaches, 2,000 referees and thousands of volunteers through its network of over 125 local member clubs across the state of Indiana.

Indiana Soccer is organized to provide nonprofit, public, educational soccer development and competition. Its leadership is comprised of an Executive Committee and a volunteer Board of Directors who represent all parts of the state. The organization currently has a professional staff of 10 full-time employees and several part time employees. The main office is located in Westfield, Indiana, at Grand Park.

Boilers FC represents the travel soccer side of GLRSA and is a proud member of Indiana Soccer. GLRSA becoming a full member on the recreational side will allow our area to have a larger voice in soccer in the state of Indiana. As a board we are trying to get in front of some of the questions that you may have. If we as a club did not answer all of your questions, feel free to reach out to me at [email protected]

David Ungaro
GLRSA President

Q. As a volunteer coach for GLRSA how does this change my role?

A. With Indiana Soccer, GLRSA will offer free coaching courses with age appropriate models and training session plans and online access to US Youth Soccer education materials. Coaches will continue to have free background checks and be required to complete, safe sport training & heads-up concussion course. We believe these resources and training will enhance the quality of our club.

Q. As a coach how much more of my time will this take?

A. In an effort to make our players, coaches, and volunteers safe, as a coach you will be required to pass the background check, safe sport & heads up courses. These trainings will take a couple of hours and be valid for 2 years.

Q. As a parent, how will this benefit my player?

A. Partnering with Indiana Soccer at the recreational level you have the assurance that all coaches and adults that your child comes into contact with continue to be required to pass a background check and have been educated in player safety.

Q. How will this improve the experience for my child?

A. Whether your child is looking to just play with his/her friends and get some exercise, or your child is looking to take their game to the next level, our partnership allows every player to benefit. You will notice a seamless path for your child to have fun with GLRSA or want to increase their time commitment to soccer with Boilers FC. Some GLRSA players and teams will be able to play in extra games or tournaments if they want to develop their skills further.

Q. Will there be an increase in price to play in GLRSA?

A. GLRSA prides itself in being one of the most affordable soccer programs in the area. GLRSA is not raising our price of $75 per season ($90 for u14 & u18). Our board envisions tremendous benefits to this partnership with another non-profit organization and will continue to offer soccer in our community in a not-for-profit model.
